My Inspiration for a Quilt Wall Hanging

Here is my Australian Shepherd, “Abby girl”. I don’t think she will ever realize how beautiful she is.  She has bright blue eyes rimmed with black “eyeliner” which is one of the things that makes her so striking.  The Native Americans called her breed Ghost Eye and considered them sacred.

I snapped this picture just before sundown and started work on a wallhanging Quilt Portrait immediately after.  This would work out just perfect for the Quilting as Art workshop I was to do for Art Night at my daughter’s school.

I will update this post with a picture of the wall hanging soon.

Summer Car Quilt

I’m thinking of designing a Summer Lap Quilt made especially for car travel. It would be more absorbent than a regular one just by virtue of material choice. Moms and Dads know that something always get spilled in the car along the way. How about terry cloth squares on one side with a cotton backing and maybe even terry cloth batting?

A Vested Interest

B is wearing Katie Petrie this evening. A vest decorated with shamrocks. The matching hat seems to be missing in this photo op but the Cow doesn’t seem to mind. I think B was just taking in the moment by just being very still and looking down at the floor.  She had previously high fived and hugged him.

Our first Quilt Show

Here are some pics from the first quilt show my daughter and I visited. Our faves were the dog quilt and the purple starburst one that had crystals in it. We met lots of friendly people there and got some good leads on where to find quilt stores in our town.

A Gift that Made Me Happy Too

Dad's Lap Quilt

I smile when I think about the Quilt I designed for Dad this year every time I hear the weather forecast. I chose fleece for the backing and a “cool dude” pattern for the front. It has a black bckgrd with dragons and flames on it. The fleece backing keeps it from slipping off easily. He has many hoodies to wear to keep him warm on top and now he has something to keep his legs toasty. (He gets cold more easily now).
